BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey team has selected junior midfielder Elizabeth Hrehovcik, sophomore forward Sara Cruz and sophomore forward Elisa Silecchia as its captains for the 2017 season.

"I'm excited to announce our captains for the 2017 season," stated Head Coach Kristen Gillis, who is beginning her first year at Moravian and third campaign as a collegiate head coach. "Beth, Sara, and Elisa all proved themselves last spring and throughout preseason as emerging leaders of this program. They possess the positivity, mindset and determination the team needs to grow and progress this year. All three are impact players on the field and around campus, I know they will step up to the challenge and lead this team to success

Hrehovcik played and started all 16 games for the Greyhounds last season. She has netted five goals in her first two seasons and Hrehovcik was also named to the 2016 Landmark Conference All-Sportsmanship Team. Cruz played 16 matches and started 11 for the Greyhounds last season while Silecchia played 16 matches and started eight contests for the Greyhounds a year ago with one goal.

Moravian is slated to open the 2017 season on Saturday, September 2, in a non-conference game at home against DeSales University at 1:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
