Field Hockey Drops Landmark Conference Match to Elizabethtown

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey squad fell to Elizabethtown College, 5-1, in Landmark Conference action Wednesday on John Makuvek Field.

The Blue Jays jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of goals in the first 3:11 of the match. Elizabethtown extended the lead to 4-0 before Moravian freshman midfielder Erica Heaney had a pair of shots on goal in the 19th minute that were both stopped. Elizabethtown maintained the 4-0 lead into the intermission.

The Greyhounds would get on the scoreboard in the 56th minute when sophomore forward Olivia Schlofer scored on her second penalty stroke of the season for her team-leading seventh goal of the fall. Schlofer's goal came after shots by freshman defender Nicole Grayuski and freshman defender Zoe Karvan. Elizabethtown finished off the scoring with a goal in the 69th minute.

"We came alive in the second half and showed our offensive side," commented first-year Head Coach Kristen Gillis. "We will look to build on that more in the next few games."

Freshman goalie Ashley Kunsman made eight saves in the cage for Moravian.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, October 14 when the squad hosts The Catholic University of America in a Landmark Conference match beginning at 1:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field in Bethlehem.
