WAYNE, N.J. --- The Moravian College field hockey squad dropped a 4-0 non-conference match at William Paterson (N.J.) University Friday evening.

Both teams had scoring chances in the first 15 minutes of action before the Pioneers took a 1-0 lead on a penalty stroke in the 22nd minute. The score would remain that way at the intermission.

Early in the second half, Moravian freshman forward Ava Edwards and sophomore defenders Talea Gordon and Zoe Karvan each put shots on the cage with Edwards hitting another one towards the goal that was saved by a defender in the first 11 minutes of the second half. However, it would be William Paterson that scored next in the 47th minute, and the Pioneers added two more tallies later in the half.

Sophomore goalie Ashley Kunsman made four saves for the Greyhounds.

The Hounds are slated to return to action on Monday, September 10 when the team hosts Cedar Crest College in a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
