BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey took a 1-0 lead midway through the second half and held off a late charge to post a 1-0 victory over visiting Drew University in Landmark Conference action on John Makuvek Field Saturday.

"Today we came out and executed on the items we have been focusing on in the prior practices," commented Head Coach Kristen Gillis. "Ashley had a phenomenal game in the cage and Beth provided the finish we needed. It's great getting that conference win and we will build on that for the next games."

The Greyhounds and Rangers played a scoreless first half with Moravian putting 11 shots on goal while Moravian sophomore goalie Ashley Kunsman made four of her six saves in the opening 35 minutes.

The Hounds would take a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute when senior midfielder Elizabeth Hrehovcik drilled in a rebound off of a shot from sophomore midfielder Erica Heaney for Hrehovcik's second goal of the season and 12th of her career. Five minutes later, junior defender Haley Wrazien made a defensive save to keep the Blue and Grey in front while Kunsman had her final two saves of the day in the final 1:10.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Tuesday, October 16 when the squad heads to Allentown for a 7:30 p.m. non-conference match at rival Muhlenberg College.
