Dinsmore & Ambrosino Net Goals in 2024 Opener versus DeSales

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University field hockey squad jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first half; however, the Greyhounds fell to visiting DeSales University, 4-2, Saturday afternoon on John Makuvek Field in non-conference action.

How It Happened

  • The squads played a scoreless first quarter
  • The Hounds were the first to get on the scoreboard with a goal on a penalty corner with just 1:38 left in the first half. Junior midfielder Megan Felmly blasted a long pass towards the cage that deflected off the stick of junior forward Gia Ambrosino and into the goal to give Moravian a 1-0 halftime lead
  • DeSales answered just over five minutes into the second half with a goal on a penalty corner, and the Bulldogs scored again with just a minutes left in the period to make it 2-1 after 45 minutes of play
  • DeSales stretched its lead to 3-1 in the 53rd minute
  • The Greyhounds cut the deficit back to a goal with just over four minutes to play when senior defender Lexi Dinsmore took a rebound of a shot on a penalty corner and drilled the ball into the right side of the cage
  • The Bulldogs answered just over a minute later for the final tally of the match

  • Ambrosino's goal was the ninth of her career
  • Dinsmore netted the first goal of her career in the match while Felmly posted her first career assist
  • Sophomore goalie Maia Machado recorded eight saves in the contest
