Why did you choose Moravian College?
I chose Moravian College because it had a beautiful small campus, a
great Nursing program, and a good field hockey program.
What is your major and why?
My major is Nursing because ever since I can remember I
have always wanted to fulfill my dream of becoming a nurse.
What has been your favorite course at Moravian and
why?
My favorite course at Moravian has been Intro to Sociology because
it explored basic concepts of the relationship between individuals
and society. I was able to understand how much culture influences
different social groups and I learned the importance of social
change.
What are your plans for the future once you finish your
degree at Moravian?
Once I finish my degree at Moravian, my plans for the
future are to move back to New Jersey in hope of working in a
hospital that is close to my house in South Jersey.
What is your most memorable moment as a Greyhound?
My most memorable moment as a Greyhound was getting my
first career hat trick this year against Cedar Crest College.
How has being an athlete helped you as a student?
Being an athlete has helped me as a student with my time
management skills. It's challenging enough being a student, but
when you add in being an athlete to the equation, managing your
time is definitely one of those skills you learn and use quickly
especially during season.
What is the hardest part of your sport?
The hardest part of field hockey is that it is a huge
mental game. As a player, I have to mentally prepare myself for
each and every game. Over the years, I have learned that I am my
own worst enemy. Mistakes will happen during the game and I can
admit that I have torn myself up over these mistakes. But, now as a
senior and leader on my team, I have learned that even though
mistakes are going to happen I'm going to have to respond to them
in a positive way and together as a team we will have to recover
from them to continue heading towards success.
Why do you wear your jersey number?
I first chose to wear the jersey number 23 because Nathan Scott
who was a talented basketball player from the my favorite TV show
One Tree Hill wore this number. To this day, I still wear number 23
because it is my lucky number and I am a superstitious person and
have never had to change to an alternate "favorite" number.
Name one obstacle or form of adversity you have had to
overcome.
One obstacle my team has had to overcome was rebuilding our
relationship between each other. When our team is playing as
individuals, we are not the team I know we can be. Overcoming this
obstacle has made us a stronger team and the team's chemistry has
never been so strong.
Why is community service important to your role as a
student-athlete at Moravian?
Community service is an important role as a student-athlete at
Moravian because as a team we are able to give back to the
community and show how much we appreciate the people that support
us. Every year our team donates money and walks the Lehigh Valley
Heart Walk. It not only brings our team together, but also shows
how important it is to put others first.
What advice do you have for a prospective Moravian
College student-athlete?
My advice for a prospective Moravian College
student-athlete is if you are given the opportunity to become a
student-athlete I would advise you to take advantage of this
opportunity. Becoming a student-athlete has given me the chance to
meet such amazing people and these people have become some of my
best friends. Looking back at my student-athlete career I can
safely say that the memories with my teammates will last a
lifetime.
