Golfers Finish 6th at Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational

MOOSIC, Pa. --- The Moravian College golf team enjoyed a strong second day at the 2014 Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational hosted by The University of Scranton at Glenmaura National Golf Course.

The Greyhounds shot a 324 Monday to finish sixth of the 12 teams competing in the 36-hole tournament with a two-day score of 655. McDaniel College won the team title with a 623 including a tournament low of 307 on Sunday.

Sophomore Jim Maru paced the Greyhounds with a 36-hole score of 158 after a 77 on Monday on the par 72 course. Maru was tied for 12th of the 59 golfers in the tournament. Sophomore Evan Dickinson was 19th overall with a 161, and he also fired a 77 in Monday morning's round. Freshman Dan Leppert was tied for 20th at 162 with his low round of 80 coming on Sunday while senior Eric Schultz finished in a tie for 43rd with a 174 including an 86 Sunday afternoon. Freshman Dan Loughlin rounded out the Moravian lineup with a 200.

The Greyhounds will return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 18 and 19 in the final two rounds of the 2013-14 Empire 8 Conference Championships being hosted by Susquehanna University at the Hershey Country Club. Moravian is in 6th place in the eight-team tournament after the two fall rounds played last September.
