Kunkle Earns Another Empire 8 Men's Golfer of the Week Honor

ROCHESTER, N.Y. --- For the second time in three weeks, Moravian College freshman Kevin Kunkle has been named the Empire 8 Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for his performance last week.

Kunkle finished in a five-way tie for seventh place among the 96 golfers at the Franklin & Marshall College Invitational at the Bent Creek Country Club with a three-over par round of 74. The Hounds were tied for third of the 19 teams in the tournament with a team score of 311.

Kunkle played in all eight rounds for Moravian this fall and is averaging 75.25 strokes per round in his debut season including a par round of 72 when he earned medalist honors at the Alvernia University Invitational. Kunkle finished in the top 10 in every event this fall, and he is tied for seventh heading into the final two rounds of the Empire 8 Championships in April.

"Kevin is playing very well this fall," stated Head Coach Kevin Edwards. "He is staying patient and really playing within himself. Kevin has been a great addition to an already talented group of players. The team and I are really excited about the spring season, looking to build on the fall success."

Moravian will return to action with its spring schedule in late March or early April after the team heads south for a week of training during Spring Break. The full spring schedule will be announced when it is completed.
