ROCHESTER, N.Y. --- Moravian College junior Kevin Kunkle has been selected as the Empire 8 Conference Men's Golf Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

Kunkle averaged 74.5 over two rounds with four birdies and a total of 22 pars over 36 holes. Kunkle was tied for 20th with a round of 76 on the par 70 Lehigh Country Club as the Greyhounds finished in a tie for second at the Muhlenberg College Fall Invitational last Monday. His round included three birdies and seven pars. Kunkle then had a season-low round of 73, one over par on the par 72 Saucon Valley Country Club Weyhill Course to help Moravian win the John Makuvek Cup for the second straight fall over Muhlenberg and DeSales University. Kunkle had one birdie and 15 pars in his round last Tuesday.

"It was nice to see Kevin come back with some solid rounds," commented Head Coach Kevin Edwards. "He struggled early in the season but fought through it. I am sure he will build on this the rest of the fall."

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Monday, October 17 in the Franklin & Marshall College Fall Invitational at Bent Creek Country Club in Lancaster. The tournament starts a string of four outings in eight days as the Greyhounds complete the fall portion of their 2016-17 schedule.
