Long Fires a 74 as Greyhounds Finish as Runner-Up at Geyer Memorial Tournament

WYOMING, Del. --- Sophomore Kody Long fired a career-low 74 in the second round to help the Moravian College golf team finish as the runner-up in the six-team 2nd Annual Andrew Geyer Memorial Tournament hosted by Wesley College and played at the Wild Quail Country Club this weekend.

The Greyhounds finished with a 36-hole team score of 646 with a 12-stroke improvement over Saturday's opening round as Moravian moved up from third to second in the team standings. Rosemont College won the tournament with a 620.

Long's 74 on Sunday was the low-round of the day and gave him a 163 for the tournament as he tied for tenth of the 30 golfers. Junior Tyler Smith fired an 81 on Sunday and finished in a four-way tie for fifth with a tournament score of 159. Junior Kevin Kunkle was tied for tenth along with Long at 163 with a second round 83 while senior Dan Leppert was 13th in the tournament with a 164 after firing a 79 on Sunday. Sophomore Joe Rochelle rounded out the Moravian lineup in 20th place with a 170 including an 84 in the second round.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to close out the fall portion of their 2016-17 season on Tuesday, October 25 at the Alvernia University Invitational at the Ledge Rock Golf Club.
