Hounds Tie for 2nd & B Team Finishes 5th at Muhlenberg Invitational

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College golf team tied for second place and the Greyhounds B team finished fifth of 18 teams at the Muhlenberg College Invitational played at the Lehigh Country Club Monday afternoon.

The Hounds tied Dickinson College with a 305 while the host Mules finished first with a 302. Moravian's B team had a four-man score of 311, and the Blue and Grey had five of their 10 golfers finish in the top 20 of the 87-player field.

Senior Tyler Smith led the Greyhounds with a three-over par round of 73 that included a pair of birdies and 11 pars to tie for third in the field while senior Kevin Kunkle and junior Kody Long tied for seventh with rounds of 76. Kunkle carded one birdie and 10 pars while Long recorded a pair of birdies to go with 10 pars. Junior Joe Rochelle finished in a tie for 29th with an 80 that included two birdies and 10 pars while sophomore Nick Kuhn tied for 38th after a round of 82 that included nine pars.

Freshman Victor Tavares led the B team with a career-low round of 74 that had a team-best three birdies to go with nine pars as he finished fifth in the tournament. Freshman Thomas Lakata was tied for 13th with a 77 as he recorded a pair of birdies and 11 pars while sophomore Andrej Skrbinsek had 11 pars in his round of 79 that was tied for 29th. Freshman Kody Kolnik carded and 81 with two birdies and five pars to tie for 36th place while senior Matt Miksiewicz had five pars to tie for 62nd with a 90.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Thursday, October 12 when the squad returns to the Lehigh Country Club for the John Makuvek Cup beginning at 12:30 p.m.
