Moravian Finishes Third at Inaugural Landmark Conference Men's Golf Championship

MOOSIC, Pa. --- The Moravian College golf team finished in third place at the inaugural Landmark Conference Championships hosted by the University of Scranton at Glenmaura National Golf Course Sunday.

The Greyhounds had a 36-hole team score of 663 while Goucher College won the first-ever Landmark Conference title and automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championships with a 649, edging the host Royals by three strokes.

Senior Kevin Kunkle finished in sixth place to lead Moravian. He had a two-day total of 162 after shooting an 84 on Sunday in a round that included one birdie and five pars while being played in the rain. Freshman Thomas Lakata took 10th place with a 166 after and 87 Sunday when he had six pars while sophomore Nick Kuhn was 13th at 168 with an 86 in the second round that included eight pars. Freshman Victor Tavares had a 96 on Sunday that included a birdie and three pars and finished 19th of the 34 golfers with a 173 while senior Tyler Smith was 24th with his second 90 of the tournament on day two with six pars for a total of 180.

Kunkle finishes his career with a career scoring average of 78.74 over 46 rounds and ranks sixth in school history while Smith completed his career with a 78.61 average through 54 rounds to place fourth in program history.
