Golfers Begin 2018-19 Season with Opening Round of Montgomery Cup

SHAWNEE-ON-THE-DELAWARE, Pa. --- The Moravian College golf team opened the fall portion of its 2018-19 schedule with the first round of the Montgomery Cup being hosted by Rosemont College at the Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort on Saturday.

The Greyhounds are in tenth place of 12 teams after the opening day of competition. Junior Nick Kuhn led the Hounds with an opening round of 75 on the par 72 course, and he is tied for 26th place after a round that included four birdies and nine pars. Sophomore Victor Tavares fired a 76 with four birdies and eight pars to sit in a tie for 30th place among the 64 golfers while senior Kody Long had two birdies and eight pars in his round of 81 and is tied for 48th place. Senior Joe Rochelle and sophomore Thomas Lakata both had rounds of 85 that included one birdie and seven pars, and the duo is in a tie for 57th after the opening 18 holes.

Moravian will play in the second round of the Montgomery Cup hosted by Rosemont on Sunday, September 23 at Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort.
