Hounds Drop Non-Conference Game to DeSales

Bethlehem, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's basketball team returned to Johnston Hall to battle against non-conference rival DeSales University on Tuesday night, falling 79-57.

"We are trying to emphasize mental toughness," commented Head Coach Jim Walker. "Right now we are struggling offensively and we are carrying it over into our defense. We need to stay positive and keep doing the little things right, such as taking care of the ball, causing less turnovers and gaining more offensive boards. If we can build off of that, everything else will come together."

The Hounds got out to a quick 5-0 lead two minutes into the game with a three-pointer by junior guard Jarrod Dilts and a layup by senior forward Garrett Kashmer. Dilts would score eight points in the game with five rebounds and two blocks. The Bulldogs got into a groove and extended a lead that the Greyhounds couldn't catch up to as they trailed 45-22 as the teams headed into halftime.

The Greyhounds put in hard-work in the second half outscoring DeSales 35-34, with sophomore forward Brandon McGuire scoring nine of his team-high 10 points and adding nine total rebounds in the game. Freshman guard Jack Aussenheimer was right behind him with a career-best nine points and a career-high of four rebounds while sophomore guard Sean Hanna also had a career high of five boards while adding two points.

The Blue and Grey head to Allentown, Pa. for their next game against rival Muhlenberg College in hopes to earn the Greyhounds another Matte Award point on Sunday, November 30 with tip-off slated for 7:00 p.m.
