Dilts Scores 30 for Hounds at Goucher

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior guard Jarrod Dilts tossed in a career-high 30 points and sophomore forward Brandon McGuire picked up his fourth double-double of the season with 24 points and 11 rebounds but it wasn't enough as the Greyhounds dropped their 2014-15 Landmark Conference opener at Goucher College, 102-92, Wednesday evening.

Dilts was 11-for-19 from the floor and 8-for-14 behind the three-point line in the game, finishing one trey shy of tying the Moravian single-game record. McGuire, who also had a career-best in scoring, connected on 12-of-18 shots from the floor as the Hounds shot 50 percent (36-of-72) from the floor and 43.3 percent (13-of-30) behind the three-point arc in the game.

Senior guard Izel Dickerson tossed in 15 points for the Greyhounds to go with a career-high seven assists while senior forward Garrett Kashmer added seven points, four assists and a career-best eight rebounds. Freshman guard Khalil Rhett also netted seven points for Moravian while junior forward Ryan O'Neil grabbed a career high six boards to go with four points and three assists.

Sophomore guard Isaiah Jennings dished out six assists as the Hounds had 24 assists in the contest and just 12 turnovers, and Jennings added three rebounds and two points while sophomore guard Sean Hanna had three points.

Dilts opened the game with his first three-pointer just 18 seconds into action, and the Hounds would build a 10-point lead, 15-5, after Dilts' third trey with 15:52 on the clock. The Gophers would slowly claw back into the contest, tying the game at 24-24 with 9:49 before the intermission. Goucher pushed its lead to 10 points, 37-27, with 6:11 to go but the Hounds would score 20 of the next 29 points to head to the locker room with a 47-46 halftime lead.

The second half would see ties and six lead changes in the first 10 minutes. During that span, the Greyhounds would be up by five, 63-58, on a three-pointer by Rhett at the 13:43 mark. The Gophers ended up taking control of the contest with a 17-7 run over the next five minutes, building an 86-75 advantage with 5:12 to play and the Hounds unable to close the gap.

Moravian will be back on the road in Landmark action on Saturday, December 6 when they head to The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
