Hounds Fall to Juniata in 2014-15 Season Finale

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's basketball team dropped its 2014-15 season finale, falling to host Juniata College, 58-53, in Landmark Conference action Sunday as the Greyhounds were unable to hold a seven-point lead late in the second half.

Senior guard Izel Dickerson and sophomore forward Brandon McGuire each scored 14 points to lead the Hounds. Dickerson closes out his career with 1,018 points, 20th on the Greyhounds' all-time list, and he added two assists, two steals and two boards on Sunday. McGuire had a game-high nine boards for Moravian.

Junior forward Ryan O'Neil tossed in seven points for the Hounds while freshman guard Jack Aussenheimer had six points on a pair of three-pointers. Senior forward Garrett Kashmer contributed four points in his final game in a Blue and Grey uniform while junior guard Jarrod Dilts added three points and three steals.

McGuire opened the scoring to give the Greyhounds an early lead but Juniata countered with a 9-2 run to build a 9-4 advantage at the 13:34 mark. Moravian fought its way back and retook the lead, 18-16, on a three-pointer by Dilts with 6:49 until the intermission. Juniata went on another run, scoring 13 of the next 15 points, and the Eagles headed to the locker room with a 31-24 lead.

Neither team scored in the first three minutes of the second half until the Hounds ran off seven straight points to tie the contest at 31-31 on a jumper by McGuire at the 15:54 mark. The next trip down the floor, McGuire connected on a three-pointer to put Moravian back in front, 34-33.

The squads traded buckets and the lead until the score was tied at 41-41. Moravian then went on its second 7-0 run of the half to build a 48-41 advantage after a pair of free throws by Dickerson with 6:43 left on the clock. Juniata answered right back to tie the score at 48-48. McGuire put the Greyhounds back ahead with a lay-up at the 3:53 mark but Moravian netted just three points the rest of the game while Juniata was 7-of-8 at the foul line in the final two minutes.
