McGuire Records a Double-Double as Hounds Fall to Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- Junior forward Brandon McGuire recorded his fifth double-double of the season and the 14th of his career with 22 points and 14 rebounds but it wasn't enough as the Moravian College men's basketball team fell to host Juniata College, 79-62, in Landmark Conference action Monday evening.

McGuire, who also had a pair of assists, was one of three Greyhounds in double figures as freshman forward Oneil Holder added 18 points and six boards while sophomore guard Matt Cardonne netted 11 points for the Hounds.

Junior guard Sean Hanna contributed four points, three rebounds and a pair of steals while junior guard Isaiah Jennings had three points. Freshman forward Sebastien Jasmin grabbed four boards for Moravian to go with two points.

McGuire connected on a three-point play on the Greyhounds' first possession to give Moravian a 3-2 lead and Cardonne tied the contest at 6-6 with a three-pointer at the 17:28 mark. McGuire tied the game again at 8-8 before the Eagles went on an 11-4 run to take control.

After trailing 43-32 at halftime, the Greyhounds closed within six points, 46-40, on a lay-up from McGuire just over three minutes into the second half before Juniata stretched the lead back to 16 points. Moravian closed the game to six points again, 61-55, on a free throw by Holder with 5:52 to play but Juniata finished the contest with an 18-7 run.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, January 30 when the squad heads to The Catholic University of America for a Landmark Conference contest tipping off at 2:00 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
