Trio of Hounds in Double Figures as Moravian Falls to Catholic

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The Moravian College men's basketball team had three players in double figures; however, the Greyhounds ended up falling to host The Catholic University of America, 96-59, in a Landmark Conference road game Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore guard Matt Cardonne paced the Hounds with 12 points while junior forward Brandon McGuire had his sixth double-double of the winter and the 15th of his career with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Jimmy Murray returned to the line-up after missing two games with an injury and tossed in 11 points for Moravian.

Freshman forward Oneil Holder contributed eight points and six boards for the Blue and Grey while sophomore guard Khalil Rhett had seven points and two rebounds. Junior guard Sean Hanna added four points, four assists and two boards while junior guard Tom Cicalese had three points.

McGuire hit a pair of lay-ups early in the first half as the Greyhounds held a 4-2 lead 2:20 into action before the Cardinals began to pull away for a 42-22 lead at halftime.

The Hounds' pressure defense would force Catholic into 17 turnovers in the game including 10 in the second half of the contest.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, February 3 in a Landmark Conference game at the University of Scranton with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m. at the John Long Center in Scranton.
