BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's basketball team has selected senior Danny Cooper, junior Nate Dougherty and sophomores Alex Dietz and C.J. Weber as its captains for the 2021-22 season.
"I'm excited to announce our four captains for the upcoming basketball season," stated Interim Head Coach Mike Frew. "Senior Danny Cooper commands respect from his coaches and teammates alike. Junior Nate Dougherty leads by example on and off the court. Sophomore CJ Weber is a vocal leader in the locker room and on the court. Sophomore Alex Dietz plays hard every day and outworks the competition. These four guys will guide our journey this season."
Cooper will be in his first season on the court for the Greyhounds this winter after missing all of the abbreviated nine-game 2020-21 schedule this past February due to an injury.
Dougherty has played in 31 games for the Greyhounds with 12 starts including all nine games last season. He has contributed 100 points, 62 rebounds, 19 assists and 15 steals for Moravian, and Dougherty was named to the 2021 Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.
Dietz saw action in all nine games in February, recording 55 points, 17 rebounds, 12 assists and seven steals in his debut season. Dietz was also selected to the 2021 Landmark Conference Winter All-Sportsmanship Team.
Weber appeared in all nine contests in his debut season with 20 points, 14 rebounds and five steals.
Moravian is set to begin its 2021-22 schedule on Friday, November 5 with a non-conference game at rival Muhlenberg College with tip-off at 7:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall in Allentown.
