Greyhounds Notch 18 Goals in Non-Conference Win at Immaculata

IMMACULATA, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's lacrosse squad posted an 18-7 win at Immaculata University in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomore attack Mark Laratta led the Greyhounds, who are now 4-4 on the season, with five goals and two assists while sophomore midfielders Austin Adams and Alec Oriolo each need four goals. Sophomore attack James Carroll had a hat trick for Moravian while freshman attack Cade Siddron and freshman midfielder Brandon Sisk each tallied one goal.

Sophomore midfielder Rick Guerra had a team-high eight ground balls while winning 17-of-27 face-offs, and Guerra also had one assist. Sophomore midfielders AJ Cioffi and Hayden DuPont and freshman midfielder Kevin Darling also dished out one assist.

Sophomore goalie Kurt Dick had eight saves and three ground balls in the win while sophomore defender John Polich added five ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Laratta also has two caused turnovers to go with four ground balls while Adams, DuPont, freshman long stick midfielder Jimmy Schicke and freshman defender Brian Darling each scooped up three ground balls.

Immaculata scored the opening goal before Laratta and Oriolo each scored for a 2-1 Moravian lead. After the Mighty Macs tallied a goal to tie it, Laratta scored again to give the Blue and Grey a 3-2 advantage after 15 minutes of action. Immaculata scored early in the second quarter to tie the match before goals tome Adams, Carroll and Oriolo gave Moravian a lead it wouldn't relinquish. The Hounds would hold a 7-4 edge at halftime.

Oriolo needed just 54 seconds in the third quarter to start the scoring, and the Greyhounds tallied five times in the third quarter including twice in the final 20 seconds for a 12-5 advantage after 45 minutes of action. The Blue and Grey put six more goals in the net in the fourth quarter for their highest goal total of the season.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 8 in a Landmark Conference match versus The University of Scranton beginning at 1:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
