Men's Lacrosse Drops Hard-Fought Match at Drew

MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian College men's lacrosse team dropped a hard-fought, 10-7 decision at Drew University in Landmark Conference action Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore midfielder Alec Oriolo led the Greyhounds with four goals and one assist while sophomore attack Mark Laratta had a pair of goals and three ground balls. Sophomore attack James Carroll added a goal for the Hounds while sophomore midfielders Hayden DuPont and AJ Cioffi each had one assist.

Sophomore goalie Kurt Dick made 11 saves in the contest to go with three ground balls while freshman long stick midfielder Jimmy Schicke scooped up a team-high seven ground balls. Sophomore defender John Polich added three ground balls while sophomore midfielder Rick Guerra was 12-of-20 on face-offs while scooping up three ground balls.

Oriolo opened the scoring with 3:35 left in the first quarter, and the Rangers tallied a goal a minute and a half later as the squads were tied at 1-1 after 15 minutes of action. Drew scored the only two goals of the second quarter to head to the intermission with a 3-1 lead.

Laratta tallied his two goals in the third quarter as Moravian tied the contest at 3-3 only to see Drew score twice in the final 45 seconds of the period to lead 5-3 after 45 minutes of play. The squads would combine for nine goals in the fourth quarter with the Greyhounds getting within a goal, 7-6, after back-to-back goals by Oriolo with just over nine minutes to play before the Rangers scored three straight goals.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 22 in a Landmark Conference match at The Catholic University of America beginning at 1:00 p.m.
