Men's Lacrosse Falls to Goucher in 2017 Season Finale

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's lacrosse team fell to Goucher College, 9-5, in a Landmark Conference match under the lights at John Makuvek Field to close out the 2017 season Saturday evening.

Sophomore attack James Carroll led the Greyhounds, who finish the season at 6-8, with three goals while sophomore midfielder Austin Adams had one goal and one assist. Sophomore midfielder Dominick Gurreri also found the back of the goal once for the Hounds.

Sophomore goalie Kurt Dick made 11 saves and added two ground balls in 48 minutes of action while freshman MacLean Lincoln had one save in the final 12 minutes. Sophomore midfielder Rick Guerra was 12-for-18 on face-offs with a team-high seven ground balls while freshman long stick midfielder Jimmy Schicke had four ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Carroll and freshman midfielder Brandon Sisk each scooped up three ground balls for the Greyhounds while sophomore defender John Polich had a pair of caused turnovers.

Goucher scored the opening two goals before Carroll would get the Greyhounds on the scoreboard with 3:31 left in the first quarter. Gurreri scored less than a minute later to tie the match after 15 minutes of action. The Gophers would score twice to start the second quarter before Carroll scored again. However, Goucher scored two more times to lead 6-3 at halftime.

The Gophers netted two tallies in the third quarter before Carroll had a man-up goal with 4:45 left in the quarter but Goucher led 8-4 after 45 minutes of action. Each squad scored once in the fourth quarter with Adams finishing the scoring with 5:42 on the clock.
