Schicke & Laratta Named to Landmark All-Conference Teams

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College freshman long stick midfielder Jimmy Schicke has been named to the 2017 Landmark All-Conference First Team while sophomore attack Mark Laratta has earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team.

The duo helped the Greyhounds to a 6-8 record this year as the program played its first Landmark Conference season since 2010.

"It's a great step for our program to have two players named to the All-Conference team," noted Head Coach Dave Carty.

Schicke registered 46 ground balls this spring; the second highest total on the team, to go along with 17 caused turnovers and one goal. Schicke was 12-for-33 on face-offs as he started all 14 matches.

"It's great to see Jimmy recognized for all his hard work and consistency," stated Carty. "He's always played the opposing teams' best midfielder and has consistently shut them down. It's rare a freshman gets named to the first team."

Laratta led Moravian in scoring for the second straight spring with 47 points on 29 goals and 18 assists. He has 98 points in two seasons for the Hounds with 71 goals and 27 assists. Laratta also had 40 ground balls and nine caused turnovers this season to go along with two game-winning goals, two man-up goals and one man-down goal.

"Mark is a great attackman who drives our offense," Carty said. "He was injured for most of the year but battled through it."
