Moravian Drops Non-Conference Match to Wentworth Institute of Technology in Florida

DAVENPORT, Fla. --- The Moravian College men's lacrosse team finished its Spring Break trip Florida with a 14-8 loss in non-conference action versus Wentworth Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon.

Junior midfielder Dominick Gurreri had two goals and two assists for the Greyhounds, who are 1-2 on the season, while junior attack Mark Laratta added two goals and an assist to go with seven ground balls. Freshman attack Connor Hull netted two goals and scooped up a pair of ground balls while sophomore attack Cade Siddron and junior midfielder AJ Cioffi each scored one goal. Junior midfielder Austin Adams had one assists for the Hounds.

Freshman goalie Will Dadouris made 15 saves and added a team-high nine ground balls while freshmen long stick midfielder Tanner Leslie and defender Trevor Green each had three ground balls. Junior midfielder Hayden DuPont won 9-of-21 face-offs in the match.

Gurreri opened the scoring just 41 seconds into the match, and Laratta tallied hits first goal with 11:39 in the opening quarter as Moravian lead 2-1. However, WIT scored the final two goals of the period to lead 3-2 after 15 minutes of action.

Gurreri began the scoring in the second quarter as well with an extra-man goal to tie the match. Laratta and Hull each had extra-man goals as the Greyhounds took a 5-4 lead with 3:03 until the intermission. WIT scored twice to lead 6-5 at the break, and the Leopards scored six times in the third quarter to take a 12-5 advantage after 45 minutes of play. The Hounds scored three times in the fourth period including twice in the final two minutes but were unable to close the gap.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Wednesday, March 14 in a non-conference match at Wilkes University beginning at 4:00 p.m.
