Laratta & Schicke Named to Landmark All-Conference Second Team

Mark Laratta '19 and Jimmy Schicke '20 named to Landmark All-Conference Second Team.

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior midfielder Mark Laratta and sophomore long stick midfielder Jimmy Schicke have been named to the 2018 Landmark All-Conference Second Team while has earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team.

The duo helped the Greyhounds to a 7-7 record this year as well as the program's first-ever Landmark Conference win as the Blue and Grey were 2-4 in Landmark Conference action and played for the final conference tournament berth in the final match of the regular season.

Laratta, who was on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team last spring as an attackman, was second on the squad in scoring this spring with 21 goals and 11 assists for 32 points. He has 130 points, the second most in school history, in three seasons for the Hounds with 92 goals, tied for second in program history, and 38 assists. Laratta also had 31 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers this season to go along with four game-winning goals and two man-up goals.

"Mark is a great player and leader for us," stated Head Coach Dave Carty. "He's our offensive engine and he's consistently one of the most dynamic players in the league."

Schicke, who was selected to the Landmark All-Conference First Team a year ago, registered 43 ground balls this spring; the second highest total on the team despite missing three matches, to go along with 12 caused turnovers. Schicke was 3-for-6 on face-offs as he started all 11 matches he played. Over the last two season, Schicke has recorded 89 ground balls, 29 caused turnovers, one goal and is 15-for-39 on face-offs.

"Jim is the complete LSM, size, skills and he can cover any midfielder," Carty commented. "He's on the wing for us on face-offs and his ability to grab ground balls gives us more offensive opportunities."
