Hounds Shutout Catholic, 1-0, for Landmark Win

Bethlehem, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's soccer team improved their Landmark Conference record to 1-1 after a thrilling 1-0 victory over Catholic University of America on Saturday afternoon on HUB Quad.

The Greyhounds are 3-0-1 at home this season "It is always nice to defend your home field and so far the guys have done a pretty good job of that this year," commented Head Coach Todd Ervin "It was a great team effort, we got a lot of guys in and a ton of them contributed which is fantastic."

The Hounds would head to intermission tied 0-0 with only three shots in the first half. The Blue and Grey wasted no time in the second half when the lone goal of the match came in during the 49th minute, a set piece taken by sophomore defender Ian Larimer found the head of freshman defender Ryan Bartel for his first collegiate goal.

"We had a lot of people with really good games today, but for me Matthew Gandy had a great game for us at center back," commented Ervin "This very well may be our first conference win in about four years, which I am thrilled about," stated Ervin. The last conference win for the men's soccer team was in 2010 when they defeated the University of Scranton 2-0.

Junior goalkeeper Brian Boland made six saves securing the victory and his third shutout of the year for the Hounds.

The Greyhounds will face off for their third Landmark Conference match next Saturday, October 4 at 1:00 p.m. against Elizabethtown College on HUB Quad.
