Men's Soccer Falls to Elizabethtown in Landmark Conference Action

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's soccer team fell to Elizabethtown College, 3-0, in Landmark Conference action at John Makuvek Field Wednesday evening.

Elizabethtown jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute before Moravian junior midfielder William Demmel put a shot on net. Junior Connor Phillips and sophomore defender Rocky Fatuova each had shots on goal near the 40th minute, and Phillips looked to have put a ball into the net on a quick restart after a foul late in the half but the officials waved off the goal saying the Greyhounds were too quick.

The Blue Jays nearly extended their lead to 2-0 late in the first half but Moravian junior goalie Bryan Yaskowski made one of his six saves while also having a Greyhound defender clear another ball off of the goal line.

Just over three minutes into the second half, the Blue and Grey had a chance at the equalizer as freshman midfielder Jack Dugan drilled a shot from the top of the 18-yard box that just missed the upper right corner of the net. The Blue Jays added goals in the 81st and 84th minutes after a strong push from the Greyhounds.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, October 8 in a Landmark Conference match at Goucher College beginning at 3:30 p.m. in Towson, Maryland.
