Greyhounds & Mules Play to 1-1, Double-Overtime Draw

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's soccer team played to a 1-1, double-overtime draw in non-conference action at rival Muhlenberg College Wednesday evening.

The Hounds, now 4-4-2 on the season, struck early with junior midfielder Connor Phillips heading in the first shot of the game on a crossing pass from senior forward Saul Marcial just 3:51 into action. The goal was Phillips' team-leading sixth of the season. Neither team would score in the rest of the half with Moravian junior goalie Bryan Yaskowski making two saves to keep the Blue and Grey in the lead at the intermission.

The Mules tied the match just 4:45 into the second half with a long shot from the left side. The Greyhounds were unable to get anything on net during the rest of regulation while Yaskowski, who finished with three saves, came up with another stop and Muhlenberg hit the cross bar with another shot with just 84 ticks left on the clock.

Moravian had the first shot in overtime with junior midfielder Brett Lubben putting the ball on net, and freshman midfielder Thulani Motekase  ripped a shot on goal with just over a minute and a half remaining in the first 10-minute session.

The Hounds had the only shot of the second overtime with Phillips heading a shot towards the keeper with 3:32 to play.

The Greyhounds are slated to return to action on Saturday, October 15 in a Landmark Conference contest versus The Catholic University of America beginning at 7:30 p.m. on John Makuvek Field as part of Moravian's annual Homecoming celebration.
