Scoreless Draw at Drew Keeps Greyhounds Postseason Chances Alive

MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian College men's soccer team played to a scoreless double-overtime draw at Drew University in Landmark Conference action Wednesday evening to keep the Greyhounds chances for a berth in the Landmark Conference Tournament alive.

The Hounds, now 7-4-3 overall and 2-2-2 in Landmark Conference action, head into Saturday's season finale versus Susquehanna University needing a victory to clinch the fourth and final spot in the Landmark Conference Tournament. The Blue and Grey are looking for their first postseason berth since 2003.

Junior goalie Bryan Yaskowski made four saves against the Rangers to earn his fourth shutout of the season with three of his stops coming in the first half.

The Greyhounds nearly had an early lead with junior midfielder Brett Lubben's shot going just over the cross bar in the seventh minute of action.

In addition to the three saves Yaskowski made in the first half, he had one stop four minutes into the second half and saw another shot ring off of the cross bar in the 73rd minute. Moravian pressed late in regulation with shots on goal from sophomore midfielder David Durski and junior midfielder Connor Phillips but the Hounds were unable to get a ball in the net.

Neither team would get a shot on goal in the 20 minutes of extra soccer.

Moravian is scheduled to close out its 2016 regular season versus Susquehanna on Saturday, October 29 in a Landmark Conference match beginning at 3:30 p.m. on John Makuvek Field. Prior to the start of the match, the Greyhounds will honor their two seniors forward Saul Marcial and midfielder Robert McKinley.
