BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's soccer team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 1-0 victory over Wilkes University in non-conference action Saturday evening on John Makuvek Field.

Prior to this fall, the last time the Greyhounds' program began a season with four straight victories was the 1979 season when the Hounds went 9-0 to start the year.

"We played extremely well tonight," stated Head Coach Todd Ervin. "I thought we moved the ball very well and got chances. We were able to play exactly the way we wanted to play. Unfortunately, we didn't capitalize on more chances but we did get a goal from Dylan on a nice build up play."

Senior goalie Bryan Yaskowski made one save for his second clean sheet of the season and junior defender Akinori Mollenthiel headed another shot away from the goal.

The Greyhounds scored the lone goal of the night in the 31st minute when sophomore midfielder Dylan Evande slotted a hard cross on the ground from senior midfielder Brett Lubben into the left side of the net for his second goal of the season.

"I think the senior leadership has been huge this fall," commented Ervin. "They are really driving the car if you will and showing everybody where to go. The freshmen are bringing a little of their own talent level and falling in line with what the seniors are asking them to do. It has been working out extremely well."

The Blue and Grey finished the match with an 18-4 advantage in shots and a 6-1 edge in corner kicks against the Colonels.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Wednesday, September 13 in a non-conference match at Montclair State University beginning at 7:00 p.m.
