JERSEY CITY, N.J. --- Senior midfielder Brett Lubben converted a penalty kick in the 89th minute to give the Moravian College men's soccer team a 2-1 non-conference victory at New Jersey City University Wednesday afternoon.

The Greyhounds, who improve to 7-4-3 on the season, nearly took an early lead in the first half when senior midfielder Connor Phillips was awarded a penalty kick but his shot was stopped by the Gothic Knights goalie. Moravian would head into the intermission with a 1-0 lead as sophomore midfielder Dylan Evande slipped a pass from junior midfielder David Durski underneath the goalie and just inside the left post in the 41st minute. The tally was Evande's team-leading fourth goal of the season for the Blue and Grey.

The Gothic Knights found the equalizer in the 60th minute to knot the score at 1-1. The match remained that way until junior midfielder Brendan Docherty tried to split a pair of NJCU defenders with just under a minute and a half to play and was fouled in the box. Lubben stepped up and drilled the penalty kick into the left side of the net for his third goal of the season. The Gothic Knights had a 21-19 edge in shots while the Greyhounds finished with a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Senior goalie Bryan Yaskowski made seven saves including one in the 17th minute of the contest that he jumped and stopped by the crossbar and then cleared the ball after it hit the ground to keep it from crossing the line.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, October 21 when the squad hosts Juniata College on Senior Day in Landmark Conference play beginning at 4:00 p.m.
