Moravian Names Bob Wilkinson as Next Head Men's Soccer Coach

Moravian College has named Bob Wilkinson as its next Head Men's Soccer Coach.

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College Department of Athletics & Recreation has named Bob Wilkinson as its next Head Men's Soccer Coach beginning on March 12.

"It is a pleasure to introduce and welcome Robert Wilkinson to the Moravian College Athletic Department," stated Director of Athletics and Recreation Mary Beth Spirk. "After an extensive nationwide search, we are eager to have Bob lead our men's soccer program into the future. Bob comes to us from LaSalle University with a strong coaching and playing background. He has a great vision for continued success at Moravian. His passion and enthusiasm for the game is quite evident. More importantly, Bob will be a positive role model for his players on and off the field. He will also be a valuable addition to our staff in the athletic department. We are excited to have Bob become a Greyhound."

Wilkinson comes to Moravian after 27 seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I LaSalle University. While at LaSalle, Wilkinson helped the Explorers reach the Atlantic 10 finals twice and the semifinals an addition four times while participating in the Atlantic 10 Tournament nine times. Outside of the collegiate ranks, Wilkinson has been the Head Coach for the Philadelphia Fever of the WPSL for two years, and he has been part of the United German Hungarians program since 1995, serving as Director of Coaching since 2003.

"I would like to thank President Bryon Grigsby, Athletic Director Mary Beth Spirk, Associate Director of Athletics Renee Hellert, and the members of the search committee for this opportunity to lead the Moravian men's soccer program," Wilkinson said. "It is an honor to be a part of such a great institution. I'm excited to work with Greyhound student-athletes, staff and alumni to continue to push the program forward. I can't wait to get started."

Wilkinson is a 1988 graduate of LaSalle with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Management Information Systems. He played for the Explorers for four seasons under his father Bill Wilkinson, and was a Regional All-American in 1986 and 1987. Both Wilkinsons are members of the LaSalle Athletics Hall of Fame.

Wilkinson takes over a Greyhound program that posted a 9-6-1 mark this past fall and was 3-4 in Landmark Conference action, missing the postseason by two points.
