Nicholas Nets First-Career Goal as Greyhounds Earn 1-1 Draw at Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's soccer squad and Elizabethtown College played to 1-1 draw in Landmark Conference action on Wednesday evening, giving the Greyhounds their first point in conference action.

How It Happened

  • Moravian got on the board in the 37th minute when sophomore forward Zach Nicholas found the back of the net with both freshman defender Kyle Weiss and sophomore defender Donald Gibbs being credited for assists. The Greyhounds would possess a 1-0 lead at the half
  • In the final minutes of the second half, Elizabethtown would counter with a goal of their own in the 87th minute, which would tie the game and send the match into overtime
  • The Blue Jays attempted the lone shot of the first overtime and the squads would remain knotted at 1-1 heading into the second overtime session
  • Moravian and Elizabethtown each attempted three shots in the final 10-minute period, but neither squad was able to score, ending the match at a 1-1 draw

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian attempted 13 shots in the contest, being outshot by the Blue Jays, who had 15 shots. The Hounds did take seven shots on goal to Elizabethtown's four and the Blue Jays earned seven corner kicks and held the Greyhounds without one
  • Nicholas' goal was the first of his career while Gibbs and Weiss each notched their first points wearing the Blue and Grey with their assists
  • Senior goalkeeper Mason LeSage made his ninth start of the season in net and made three saves
