Men's Tennis Sweeps Neumann

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team closed out its 2013-14 non-conference home season with a 9-0 sweep of Neumann University at Hoffman Courts Monday afternoon.

The Greyhounds, who won their second home contest in three days, are now 7-9 this season.

"I thought the guys played very well against a team that will probably be the top seed in their conference tournament," Head Coach Art Smith said. "I was very pleased with the effort of the entire doubles and singles line-up."

Moravian took all three doubles matches to start with sophomores Matt Tuorto and John Wylie posting an 8-0 win at first doubles. Junior Lewis Cooper and Mike Antonis had an 8-3 triumph at second doubles while sophomore C.J. Widdifield and freshman Giovanni Lombardi posting the same winning score at third doubles.

The Hounds won all six doubles contests in straight sets with Tuorto taking a 6-2, 6-2 win at first singles. Wylie won 6-2, 6-2 at second singles while Cooper had a 61-, 6-2 victory at third singles.

Antonis was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at fourth singles while Lombardi had a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at fifth singles. Freshman Dan Schmucker rounded out the line-up with a 6-0, 6-2 win at sixth singles.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, April 15 in a non-conference match at Wilkes University starting at 4:00 p.m.
