Tuorto Named Landmark Men's Tennis Player of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College sophomore Matt Tuorto has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for his performance over the last seven day.

Tuorto helped the Greyhounds to a pair of 9-0 wins last week including a victory over The United States Merchant Marine Academy that clinched the fourth seed in the 2014 Landmark Tournament for the Hounds.

Tuorto was 2-0 during the week at first singles including a three-set victory in the USMMA match, and he combined for a 2-0 mark at first doubles with sophomore John Wylie. Tuorto has a 10-2 mark in singles for the year while he and Wylie are 11-7 in doubles action.

"Matt is the consummate team player," stated Head Coach Art Smith. "He works hard every day at practice, and as one of our co-captains, he leads his teammates both on and off the court. He had a great week and has battled hard at the number one position all year. He really played hard against USMMA on Thursday and beat a quality freshman in James Hicks."

Moravian will return to the courts on Wednesday, April 23 when the squad heads to Huntingdon to battle top seed Juniata College in the Landmark Semifinals starting at 3:00 p.m.
