Men's Tennis Competes on Opening Day of ITA Southeast Regional

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team competed in the opening day Saturday of the 2016 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Regional Tournament hosted by the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

On Friday evening, senior Giovanni Lombardi lost in a play-in match to the championship singles bracket to a player from Hampden-Sydney College.

On Saturday, Lombardi and junior David Wilson lost in their opening match of the championship doubles bracket to a team from Christopher Newport University. The duo is scheduled to play a team from Washington College on Sunday in the first round of the consolation bracket.

Wilson and sophomore Isaac Schefer will be in the quarterfinals of the Blue 6 singles flight on Sunday after moving forward Saturday while sophomore Peter Demyan had his singles match in the Blue 7 singles flight moved to Sunday due to the weather. Schefer and Demyan won their opening round doubles match in the Blue 3 doubles flight over a team from McDaniel College. The duo would fall in the quarterfinals to a team from Saint Mary's College of Maryland.

The Greyhounds will compete in the second day of the ITA Southeast Regional on Sunday, October 2 at Mary Washington.
