Hounds Open Spring Season with an 8-1 Win at Rutgers-Camden

CAMDEN, N.J. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team opened the spring portion of its schedule with an 8-1 victory in non-conference action at Rutgers-Camden Saturday afternoon.

The Greyhounds, now 2-2 overall on the year, swept the doubles action to take a 3-0 lead with a trio of 8-0 wins. The third doubles tandem of senior Mike Palmeri and freshman Sean Kearns were off the courts first followed by the first doubles duo of juniors Peter Demyan and Isaac Schefer. Sophomore Christopher Csencsits and freshman Mason Hudnall finished off the sweep with a win at second doubles.

In singles action, Moravian won five of the six contests with Kearns first off of the courts with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at sixth singles. Schefer would earn the team winning point with a 6-0, 6-2 win at second singles while Demyan was next to finish with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at first singles. Hudnall earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at fifth singles while Palmeri finished off the match with a 6-4, 7-6 (6) victory at fourth singles. Junior Austin Grace played a three-set match at third singles, falling in a third set tiebreaker.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Monday, March 12 in a non-conference match at Neumann University beginning at 4:00 p.m.
