Men Have Five Runner-Up Finishes at Greyhound Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's track & field team had five runner-up finishes at the non-scoring Greyhound Invitational at Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field Saturday.

Junior Alec Duncan was the runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with an ECAC qualifying time of 9:38.06 while junior Dillon Farrell took second in the 1,500-meter run with an ECAC mark of 3:57.75 and freshman Cory Taggert was the runner-up in the 800-meter run in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:54.84. Senior Kristopher Joint was the runner-up in the long jump at an ECAC qualifying distance of 6.84 meters (22 feet, 5.25 inches) while sophomore Ryan Karnopp took second in the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying mark of 4.70 meters (15 feet, five inches).

In other track results, freshman Matt Barnett was seventh in the 100-meter finals in 11.39 seconds after finishing sixth in the preliminaries in 11.27 seconds. Freshman Austin Gardener was fourth in the 200-meter dash in 22.86 seconds, and he was 10th in the 100-meter preliminaries in 11.47 seconds. Karnopp was 10th in the 200-meter dash in 23.28 seconds while senior David Cariello finished 10th in the 110-meter high hurdle preliminaries in 16.24 seconds.

Joint and freshman Kahron Walker both tied fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.88 meters (six feet, two inches), and Walker also placed eighth in the long jump at 6.39 meters (20 feet, 11.75 inches). Sophomore Albert Myers was ninth in the long jump with a leap of 6.25 meters (20 feet, 6.25 inches). Junior Chris Ossont was third in the triple jump at 13.39 meters (43 feet, 11 .25 inches).

Senior Timothy Lorah was fifth in the javelin with an ECAC qualifying toss of 58.30 meters (191 feet, three inches) on his first toss of the competition while freshman Michael Guarino was ninth at 50.96 meters (167 feet, two inches) also on his first throw of the afternoon. Junior Parker Munson finished fourth in the discus with a toss of 42.18 meters (138 feet, five inches) on his first throw of the meet while freshman Greg Cahill was sixth at 40.63 meters (133 feet, four inches). Junior Jeffrey Gallagher took ninth in the discus at 40.25 meters (132 feet, one inch) while senior Frank Yannotta was 10th at 39.45 meters (129 feet, five inches).

Several of the Greyhounds will compete at the Penn Relays Thursday, April 24 to Saturday, April 26 after the fields are announced on Monday for the college events. The rest of the squad is slated to return to action at the Lehigh Games on Saturday, April 26.
