Joint & Lorah Earn All-America Honors at NCAA Championships

DELAWARE, Ohio --- Moravian College seniors Kristopher Joint and Timothy Lorah earned All-America honors on the final day of the 2014 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships being hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at Selby Field Saturday.

Joint earned his fourth career All-America honor and first outdoors after placing third in the triple jump with a mark of 14.79 meters (48 feet, 6.25 inches). Joint, who had the top mark in the nation heading into the championships, opened the competition with distances of 14.65 meters and 14.63 meters before a final mark of 14.77 meters to end the preliminaries second in his flight and second of the 20 competitors. Joint opened the finals with his long jump of 14.79 meters and followed with marks of 11.32 meters and 14.75 meters to close out the competition. Joint is a three-time All-American this season after finishing second in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships back in March.

Lorah garnered All-America honors for the second consecutive year in the javelin with a fourth place finish on a throw of 64.67 meters (212 feet, two inches) that came on his opening throw of the preliminaries. It was the fourth meet this season that Lorah's best throw of the day came on his first attempt of the competition. The mark was good enough to put him in third place heading into the finals. Lorah, who switched this season to just a seven step approach, posted marks of 63.10 meters, 60.59 meters, 61.55 meters, 63.23 meters and 62.25 meters Saturday. Lorah placed eighth last spring at the NCAA meet to earn All-America honors after being ninth in the javelin as a sophomore.

Joint picked up six points for his third place finish while Lorah added five points to give the Greyhounds a team score of 11 points, which placed them 25th of the 82 teams scoring a point in the three-day championship meet. The University of Mount Union captured the team title with 47 points.
