Men Selected to Win Another Landmark Indoor Title

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College men's indoor track & field squad has been picked to repeat as the 2015 Landmark Conference Indoor Champions in a preseason poll conducted by the conference's head coaches.

The Greyhounds, who have won six of the seven Landmark indoor titles since the conference began in 2007, are looking their sixth consecutive championship at the 2015 meet that will be hosted by Susquehanna University again on February 28 in Selinsgrove.

The Hounds received four of the seven first-place votes and 54 points while Susquehanna had the other three first-place votes and 49 points. Landmark newcomer Elizabethtown College is third in the poll.

Fourth-year Head Coach Jesse Baumann brings back 27 letterwinners including junior All-American pole vaulter Ryan Karnopp. Moravian also returns the 2014 Landmark Indoor Track Athlete of the Year in senior Dillon Farrell and the Indoor Rookie of the Year in sophomore jumper Kahron Walker. The Hounds roster will have 40 student-athletes this winter including nine that earned Landmark All-Conference honors last winter.

"It's flattering to be picked first, but it really doesn't mean much to us at this point," commented Baumann. "Susquehanna defeated us in May last year when we were picked to win, and virtually every track conference meet I've been a part of since I've been here has been a close battle with them. Injuries will inevitably come up and change the dynamic of teams and ultimately the conference meet, and it remains to be seen how Elizabethtown will affect everyone, so again, the ranking is nice, but I don't put much stock into it.

"I do feel that we're pretty well covered across the event groups from sprints, to jumps, to throws, and distance," continued Baumann. "We just have to maximize the talent of this group. One of our goals for both the men is to increase our national presence. We had two men qualify for NCAAs last winter, and if we can increase those numbers, like I think we can, there will be a trickle-down effect in our showings at conferences, ECACs, etc."

Moravian will open its 2014-15 indoor season on Saturday, December 6 at the Fast Times Before Finals meet at Lehigh University's Rauch Fieldhouse.
