Walker Honored as Landmark Men's Field Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College sophomore jumper Kahron Walker has been honored as the Landmark Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week for his performance last week in a pair of meets.

Walker started the week by placing tenth in the College Men's High Jump at the Penn Relays with a career-best outdoors of 2.00 meters (6-6.75), the eighth-best mark in school history.

On Saturday, Walker competed at the Lehigh University Games where he placed sixth in the triple jump at 13.46 meters (44-2) and ninth in the long jump with a mark of 6.21 meters (20-4.5).

"Kahron had a great weekend with an excellent performance at the Penn Relays, placing 10th and was the second highest Division III finisher in less-than-ideal conditions with the cold and wind on Friday morning," commented Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "On Saturday he came back and had a solid long jump, and a nice series in the triple jump. At the moment we're double checking the distance of his jump as it's recorded in the results online, however, he jumped at least 13.46m which is number two in the conference and one of his best marks in the event, although if we confirm the results of what we heard while at the meet, he will have qualified for the ECACs in the triple jump as well and set a PR by over a foot."

Moravian will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, May 2 and 3 at the 2015 Landmark Conference Championships being hosted by Susquehanna University. The Greyhounds will be looking to reclaim the conference title after losing to Susquehanna outdoors for the first time after winning the first six Landmark Outdoor Championships.
