Hagerty, Spirk & Walker Win Events at Susquehanna Orange & Maroon Invitational

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's indoor track & field team had three event winners as the Greyhounds competed for the first time in six weeks at the Susquehanna University Orange & Maroon Invitational on Saturday.

Senior Kyle Hagerty won the long jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 6.73 meters (22-1.5) on his second leap of the meet while senior Kahron Walker won the high jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 1.93 meters (6-4). Sophomore John Spirk captured the 60-meter hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 8.66 seconds, and he had the fastest qualifying mark of 8.79 seconds.

The Greyhounds' 4x200-meter relay squad of seniors Austin Gardener and Cory Taggert , sophomore Chris Antoine and freshman Billy DiLolle was the runner-up in 1:34.34. Taggert took third in the 400-meter dash in 52.38 seconds while Gardener was sixth in the 200-meter dash in 23.39 seconds.

Elsewhere on the track, junior Andrew Mitchell finished second in the 800-meter run in 2:01.23. Freshman Greg Jaindl placed eighth in the mile run in 4:33.34 while sophomore Devon Harris was tenth in 4:33.71. Spirk and Taggert combined with junior Mike Kopach and freshman Coulter Lewis to place fifth in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:34.50 in the final track event.

Back in the jumps, freshman Roland Cash placed seventh in the triple jump at 13.11 meters (43-0.25) while sophomore Scott Goodwin was seventh in the pole vault at 3.80 meters (12-5).

In the throws, senior Greg Cahill finished fourth in the 35-pound weight throw with a toss of 14.40 meters (47-3), and he was fourth in the shot put at 13.43 meters (44-0.75). Sophomore Tyler Bergsma was seventh in the weight throw at 13.05m (42-9.75) and seventh in the shot put with a mark of 12.63 meters (41-5.25) while freshman Ryan Harper was fifth in the shot put with a toss of 12.93 meters (52-5.25).

Moravian is scheduled to return to competition on Saturday, January 28 at the Lehigh University Covert Classic at Rauch Fieldhouse in Bethlehem.
