Goodwin Selected as Landmark Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College sophomore Scott Goodwin has been selected as the Landmark Conference Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for his performance this past Saturday.

Goodwin, who received his second Landmark Athlete of the Week award of the season, won the pole vault at the non-scoring Kutztown University 6-Team Qualifier on Saturday with an ECAC qualifying height of 4.67 meters (15-3.75). The mark has Goodwin ranked 31st on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list, and just six inches shy of being in the top 15. The top 15 competitors in each event on the list as of March 4 will head to the 2017 NCAA Division III National Championships on March 10-11 at the North Central College in Illinois.

"This meet has always seemed to be a special meet for our pole vaulters – it's where Ryan Karnopp set his school record in the pole vault – and Saturday was another successful day for us," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "Scott had a bit of a breakthrough last week down at Haverford and carried it on to this week with a great series of jumps and clean attempts from his opening height. He had a really nice jump at his second attempt on the final bar that shows he has even more left in the tank. He's peaking at the right time."

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, February 25 in the 2017 Landmark Conference Championships being hosted by Susquehanna University. The Greyhounds have won the last seven Landmark titles and eight of the first nine in conference history.
