Moravian Men Tied for 11th after 1st Day of ECAC DIII Indoor Championships

ITHACA, N.Y. --- The Moravian College men's indoor track & field squad is tied for 11th after the opening day of the 2017 ECAC Division III Indoor Championships being hosted by Ithaca College Friday.

The Hounds are tied for 11th place of 25 teams scoring points with eight points after the first day of action that included five events being completed.

The Greyhounds received four points in two different events on Friday. Senior Kyle Hagerty placed fifth in the long jump with a career-best leap of 6.82 meters (22-4.5) to earn four points while the 4x200-meter relay of seniors Austin Gardener and Cory Taggert, junior Eric Morton and freshman Billy DiLolle took fifth in a time of 1:31.62, the sixth fastest time in school history, for the other four points.

Sophomore John Spirk advanced in the 60-meter hurdles with a qualifying time of 8.52 seconds as he captured the last spot in the finals on Saturday. Morton placed 18th in the 60-meter dash preliminaries in 7.17 seconds while DiLolle took 22nd in 7.19 seconds and Gardener was 26th at 7.28 seconds. Senior Greg Cahill finished 15th in the shot put with a toss of 13.83 meters (45-4.5) while senior Kahron Walker was 16th in the long jump with a distance of 6.41 meters (21-0.5).

Moravian will close out the second day of ECAC Indoor Championships on Saturday, March 4 at Ithaca College beginning at 10:00 a.m.
