Five Hounds Win Events at Lafayette 7-Way Meet to Open Outdoot Season

EASTON, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's track & field squad opened its 2017 outdoor season at the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet Saturday at the Metzger Athletic Complex. The Greyhounds finished second of four teams in the NCAA Division II/Division III, scoring 172 points. Five Hounds won events and Moravian received points for each top six finish.

Junior Robert Condo won the javelin with an ECAC qualifying mark of 56.58 meters (185-7) while sophomore Scott Goodwin captured the pole vault at 4.25 meters (13-11.25). Sophomore Peter Milewski won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:12.13 while senior Cory Taggert won the 400-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 50.05 seconds. Freshman Gavin Kemery captured the 5,000-meter run in 16:15.25.

Senior Greg Cahill was the runner-up in the hammer throw at 42.58 meters (139-8) while sophomore Hunter Gibson was fourth at 36.63 meters (120-2) and sophomore Tyler Bergsma was sixth at 35.17 meters (115-5). Senior Michael Guarino finished second in the javelin with an ECAC qualifying toss of 54.60 meters (179-2) while junior Kyle Allison placed fourth at 50.22 meters (164-9). Freshman Ryan Harper was third in the shot put at 12.87 meters (42-2.75) while sophomore Jon Anthony was fifth in the discus at 37.15 meters (121-10).

Senior Kyle Hagerty was the runner-up in the long jump at 6.54 meters (21-5.5) while sophomore Brian Stock finished sixth at 6.10 meters (20-0.25). Junior Preston Weidner was third in the pole vault at 3.65 meters (11-11.75).

Freshman Billy DiLolle was fifth in the 100-meter dash in 11.38 seconds while junior Eric Morton took sixth in 11.41 seconds. DiLolle was fourth in the 200-meter dash in 23.13 seconds while senior Austin Gardener was fifth in 23.32 seconds. Junior Mike Kopach was third in the 400-meter dash in 52.59 seconds while junior Andrew Mitchell was fifth at 54.09 seconds and freshman Evan Lutz placed sixth in 54.25 seconds.

Sophomore John Spirk finished second in the 400-meter hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 56.24 seconds, and he was third in the 110-meter high hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 15.61 seconds while sophomore Woodrow Battle was sixth at 17.71 seconds.

Freshman Greg Jaindl was third in the 1,500-meter run in 4:06.17 while sophomore Devin Harris placed fourth in 4:06.57 and freshman Justin Beasley-Turner finished sixth in 4:12.14. Junior Josh Toth finished third in the 5,000-meter run in 18:00.95.

The Hounds 4x100-meter relay squad of Taggert, Morton, DiLolle and Gardener was second with an ECAC qualifying time of 42.42 seconds. Moravian's 4x400-meter relay B Team of Harris, Jaindl, Kopach and Mitchell was third in 3:33.75 while the A Team of Taggert, Lutz, sophomore Na'im Pretlow and freshman Coulter Lewis was fourth in 3:33.81.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action at the Muhlenberg College Invitational on Saturday, April 1 beginning at 10:00 a.m.
