Spirk, Taggert & 4x100 Combine to Win Four Events at Muhlenberg Invitational

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's track & field team won four events and had six ECAC qualifiers at the Muhlenberg College Invitational Saturday.

Sophomore John Spirk won the 110-meter high hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 15.30 seconds, and he captured the 400-meter hurdles in an ECAC mark of 55.97 seconds. Spirk's 110 time is 24th on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list and his 400 time is tied for 20th with the top 20 men in each event at the end of the season competing at the NCAA Division III National Championships at the University of Mount Union in Ohio.

Senior Cory Taggert won the 400-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 50.09 seconds, and Taggert then ran the anchor leg of the 4x100-meter relay squad with junior Eric Morton, freshman Billy DiLolle and senior Austin Gardener that posted an ECAC qualifying time of 42.93 seconds.

The Greyhounds also had a trio of runner-up finishes in the field events with junior Robert Condo taking second in the javelin with an ECAC qualifying toss of 57.44 meters (188-5), which is 11th on the TFRRS list, sophomore Scott Goodwin placing second in the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying height of 4.42 meters (14-6), which is tied for 16th on the TFRRS list, and freshman Roland Cash finishing second in the triple jump at 13.39 meters (32-11.25).

DiLolle also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash in 22.89 seconds while Gardener was fifth in 22.95 seconds. Sophomore Devon Harris was third in the 800-meter run in 1:59.01 while freshman Greg Jaindl was fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:08.18 and sophomore Peter Milewski placed sixth at 10:14.87. The Greyhounds' 4x400-meter relay squad of junior Mike Kopach and freshmen Gavin Kemery, Justin Beasley-Turner and Alex Tursi placed seventh in 3:36.83.

Senior Kahron Walker was sixth in the long jump at 6.12 meters (20-1), and he finished eighth in the triple jump at 12.72 meters (41-8.75). Junior Preston Weidner was ninth in the pole vault at 3.51 meters (11-6.25). Junior Kyle Allison was sixth in the javelin at 48.35 meters (158-7) while sophomore Jon Anthony was ninth in the discus with a toss of 40.96 meters (134-4). Anthony also finished sixth in the hammer throw competed at Moravian with a toss of 37.96 meters (124-6) while sophomore Hunter Gibson took seventh at 37.33 meters (122-5) and sophomore Tyler Bergsma was eighth at 36.63 meters (120-2).

Moravian is slated to return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 7-8 as the squad hosts the Annual Coach P Invitational at Timothy Breidegam Track and the Steel Athletic Complex. Action is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday and 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
