Men Record Seven ECAC Qualifiers in Annual Coach P Open

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's track & field team hosted the 8th Annual Coach P Invitational Friday and Saturday at Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field in memory of long time head coach Doug Pollard with a number of alumni competing in the meet.

The Moravian men had seven ECAC qualifying marks led by three in the 100-meter dash finals as freshman Billy DiLolle placed third in an ECAC qualifying time and PR of 10.89 seconds while junior Eric Morton was fourth in a PR and ECAC qualifying time of 10.96 seconds and senior Austin Gardener placed sixth in an ECAC qualifying time of 11.00 seconds. DiLolle's time is now tied for 21st on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list, and the top 20 men in each event at the end of the season will compete in the NCAA Division III National Championships at the University of Mount Union on May 25-27. Gardener also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash in 22.40 seconds.

Sophomore John Spirk turned in a pair of ECAC qualifying times as he placed second in the 110-meter high hurdle finals with a PR of 15.02 seconds, which is tied for 19th on the TFRRS list, and took fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 56.41 seconds.

Freshman Greg Jaindl was fourth in the 800-meter run in 1:57.89 while junior Andrew Mitchell took sixth in 1:58.80. Moravian's 4x400-meter relay squad of Mitchell, Jaindl, junior Mike Kopach and freshman Justin Beasley-Turner finished eighth in 3:35.80.

The lone event winner for the men was senior Kahron Walker, who won the high jump with an ECAC qualifying height of 1.95 meters (6-4.75). Senior Kyle Hagerty placed third in the long jump with a leap of 6.48 meters (21-3.25) while freshman Roland Cash was eighth in the triple jump at 12.74 meters (41-9.75). Sophomore Scott Goodwin finished second in the pole vault at 4.25 meters (13-11.25) while junior Preston Weidner tied for tenth at 3.65 meters (11-11.75).

Junior Robert Condo was the runner-up in the javelin with an ECAC qualifying toss of 59.64 meters (195-8), which is 14th on the TFRRS list, while junior Kyle Allison was ninth at 49.31 meters (161-9). Sophomore Jon Anthony took seventh in the discus with a toss of 39.96 meters (128-10) while sophomore Tyler Bergsma was tenth at 36.37 meters (119-4).

In action Friday evening, freshman Gavin Kemery placed third in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 34:07.72 while freshman Benjamin Smith finished fourth in 34:13.26. Senior Greg Cahill was tenth in the shot put at 12.22 meters (40-1.25) while sophomore Hunter Gibson was sixth in the hammer throw with a toss of 39.67 meters (130-2) and Anthony placed ninth at 37.89 meters (124-4).

The Hounds are slated to return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 14-15 when Moravian hosts the Annual Greyhound Invitational at Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field. Action will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
