Taggert Honored as Landmark Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior Cory Taggert has been honored as the Landmark Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

Taggert was the runner-up in the 400-meter dash at the non-scoring Greyhound Invitational hosted by Moravian with a PR and ECAC qualifying time of 48.94 seconds, which is the tenth fastest time in school history. Taggert also ran the anchor leg of Moravian's 4x400-meter relay squad that placed fourth in an ECAC qualifying time of 3:23.49.

"Cory's speed has really improved in the past few weeks, in fact in the 4x100 we were en route to what could have been a really strong time but he took off faster than we expected on the anchor leg," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "Despite that, it was a great day for him as he dropped under 50 seconds twice in the same day running 48.9 in the open, and also anchoring our 4x400 in a 48.6. It was a huge leap for him, and by all accounts it looks like he's just getting started this year."

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 22 at the Misericordia University Invitational with action getting underway at 10:00 a.m.
