Harris & Goodwin Capture Event Wins for Moravian Men at Misericordia Invitational

DALLAS, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's track & field squad finished sixth of eight schools at the Misericorida University Invitational Saturday.

The Hounds scored recorded 75 points and also had a pair of first place finishes. Sophomore Scott Goodwin  won the pole vault at an ECAC qualifying height of 4.40 meters (14-5.25) while sophomore Devon Harris won the 800-meter run in a time of 1:59.82.

Freshman Gavin Kemery was second in 2:02.84 and freshman Justin Beasley-Turner placed fifth in 2:04.65. Moravian's 4x400-meter relay team of Beasley-Turner, junior Mike Kopach, sophomore Aaron Hofmann and freshman Alex Tursi was third in a time of 3:33.29.

Freshman Greg Jaindl was second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:08.69 while sophomore Benjamin Smith placed fifth in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:28.59.

Senior Matt Barnett was eighth in the finals of the 100-meter dash in 11.73 seconds while senior Kyle Hagerty was ninth in the preliminaries in 12.11 seconds. Freshman Evan Lutz finished tenth in the 200-meter dash in 23.93 seconds.

Freshman Nicholas Cephas was fourth in the 110-meter high hurdles in a time of 17.63 seconds while senior Jordan Sweeney was fifth in 17.77 seconds. Sweeney also finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:04.65.

Sophomore Brian Stock placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 6.29 meters (20-7.75) while junior Preston Weidner finished third in the pole vault at 3.65 meters (11-11.75).

Moravian is slated to participate in a pair events next week with the annual Penn Relays and the Lehigh University Games on the schedule as the team has its final tune-up before hosting the 2017 Landmark Conference Championships on May 6-7.
