Jaindl & Condo Post Runner-Up Finishes as Moravian is 5th after 1st Day of ECAC Championships

WESTFIELD, Mass. --- The Moravian College men's women's track & field squad is fifth of 24 teams after the initial day of competition in the 2017 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships being hosted by Westfield State University Wednesday.

The Greyhounds garnered 19 points on the first day of competition to sit in fifth place. Farmingdale State (NY) College is in first place with 33 points while Brandeis (Mass.) University is second with 32 points.

Freshman Greg Jaindl grabbed eight points for the Greyhounds in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 9:55.84, and he combined with junior Andrew Mitchell and freshmen Justin Beasley-Turner and Evan Lutz to finished seventh in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:32.87 to added another two points to Moravian's team score.

Junior Robert Condo was the runner-up in the javelin with a toss of 60.54 meters (198-7) to earn the men eight points, and Condo currently sits ninth in the nation on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list at 62.40 meters with the top 20 men competing at the national championship meet. Freshman Roland Cash finished eighth in the triple jump at a PR of 13.52 meters (44-4.25) to earn the Greyhounds a point.

Junior Eric Morton advanced to the final of the 100-meter dash with a PR and second fastest qualifying time of 10.71 seconds, which is tied for 23rd on the TFFRS list. Senior Austin Gardener was 18th in qualifying in 11.46 seconds.

The second day of the 2017 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 18 at Westfield State's Jerry Gravel Track.
